Located on a natural slope, the Chessboard Hill Cascade in the Lower Park is flanked by ancient gods rendered in marble; the birdsong of parrots, nightingales, thrushes, siskins, finches and bullfinches emanated from the Aviary Pavilions in summer; straight alleys of lime trees (Tilia spp.) are a feature of the Upper Garden’s geometrical layout.
