Toogoolawah is active
Active April Markets is a big success
THANK you from the Toogoolawah & District History Group to all the people of the town and surrounding district for your support of the Active April Markets on April 8.
The town was jumping that weekend with the rodeo and a lot of activity out at Ramblers Sky Dive Centre as well.
Esk and District Co-op, which operates the Toogoolawah IGA, got right behind us by donating the prizes for the egg and spoon races which were as were as popular with the adults as the children and there were some happy prize-winners.
A big thank you also goes to Toogoolawah Pharmacy and Bargain Buys for supporting the raffle this month and also to the Somerset Regional Council Library Services and their staff for lending us the egg-and-spoon race kits.
They are key supporters of the History Group and its activities and you can expect to see their book stall at the markets during Book Week later in the year.
Lloyd Sutton was the guest speaker this month and entertained visitors, including our Federal MP Shayne Neumann, with his wonderful stories of 50 years of working on the railways.
Lloyd has kindly donated some of his items from that era, including his railway hat and tie and special lantern. We are pleased to now have these on display in our museum.
The next market will be a special National Trust Heritage Month event and will include the official opening of our new photographic exhibition and the day will also be an accolade to all the mothers in the community.
Stallholders have promised to get into the spirit of the event with some special treats for customers and all the usual fresh produce.
