Calling all Kleidons to the Lockyer
THE first Kleidon reunion was held in 1986 in the former Gatton Showgrounds to commemorate the arrival of the three Kleidon brothers from Prussia to Lockyer Valley, and the first Kleidon family tree book was released.
Since then there have been reunions about every five years. In 2006, the Kleidon family tree book was updated and included some 6000 names – all descendants of Johann Frederick, Hermann Edward and Albert Rudolph Kleidon – three of the children of Michael and Ernestine Kleidon – photo shows memorial plaque at Ropeley Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Since 2006, contact has now been made with some of descendants of Gustav and Adolph Kleidon, who along with their parents – Michael and Ernestine Kleidon – migrated to Minnesota in America.
Contact has also been made with some descendants of a daughter Henriette Marie, who stayed in Germany. The next Kleidon Reunion will be held on Saturday September 23, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Church Hall, Gatton, starting at 10am.
Bring your own lunch. Tea and coffee will be provided. Some of the items on display will be photos of the Church where the Kleidons worshipped in what was called Lübtow, which is now in Poland.
