Call­ing all Klei­dons to the Lock­yer

THE first Klei­don re­union was held in 1986 in the for­mer Gat­ton Show­grounds to com­mem­o­rate the ar­rival of the three Klei­don brothers from Prus­sia to Lock­yer Val­ley, and the first Klei­don fam­ily tree book was re­leased.

Since then there have been re­unions about ev­ery five years. In 2006, the Klei­don fam­ily tree book was up­dated and in­cluded some 6000 names – all de­scen­dants of Jo­hann Fred­er­ick, Her­mann Ed­ward and Al­bert Ru­dolph Klei­don – three of the chil­dren of Michael and Ernes­tine Klei­don – photo shows me­mo­rial plaque at Rope­ley Lutheran Church Ceme­tery.

Since 2006, contact has now been made with some of de­scen­dants of Gus­tav and Adolph Klei­don, who along with their par­ents – Michael and Ernes­tine Klei­don – mi­grated to Min­nesota in Amer­ica.

Contact has also been made with some de­scen­dants of a daugh­ter Hen­ri­ette Marie, who stayed in Ger­many. The next Klei­don Re­union will be held on Satur­day Septem­ber 23, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Church Hall, Gat­ton, start­ing at 10am.

Bring your own lunch. Tea and cof­fee will be pro­vided. Some of the items on dis­play will be pho­tos of the Church where the Klei­dons wor­shipped in what was called Lübtow, which is now in Poland.
