Shoppers help kids in hospice

Gatton Star - - NEWS -

SHOPPERS at Coles in Gatton can raise vital funds for Queensland’s only children’s hospice, Hummingbird House, by purchasing $2 donation cards at the checkout.

Since opening its doors a year ago, Hummingbird House has provided a ‘home away from home’ for children affected by lifelimiting conditions, with families accessing it free.

Hummingbird House founders Paul and Gabrielle Quilliam said the support from Coles shoppers would mean they could continue to provide short-break stays, family support services, creative therapies, and care at the end of life for children and their families.

“Every year we are overwhelmed by the support we receive from Coles supermarkets, their team members and wonderful customers,” Mr Quilliam said.

“Since opening our doors we have been able to support 64 families, who have accessed Hummingbird House and our services 222 times.

“I want to thank each and every person involved.”

Shoppers can support Hummingbird House at their local Coles supermarket until October 24.
