In support of the Gatton RV Park

Gatton Star - - NEWS -

I WAS pleased to see the letter from the Russells praising the free Gatton RV park, the more so as I have been very disappointed with letters criticising it. Caravan parks don’t suit all vanners, some can’t afford them every night. We are regular users of free spots and have availed ourselves of them all over Australia. We are always appreciative of the consideration given to travellers by the provision of these services. Whilst our set-up might not be accepted as “self contained” by some, we carry our porta-potti and can collect our grey water, thus a dump point is quite adequate. Why criticise LVRC for not providing toilet facilities at their free spot? I personally regard it as a plus in a town area – there will be no “non campers” turning up at all times of the night to use them, thus contributing to a quieter night! The William Kemp Park is one of the best free spots that I have seen – beautifully maintained green lawns, barbecue facilities, adequate shade trees. When planning our trips we consult the Wikicamps website, it has many glowing reports of the Gatton facility with most, like the Russells, spending money at IGA or Coles. Those are not the only businesses which have benefited from LVRC’S generous foresight. Similarly, when we avail other town’s generous provision of free camps, we spend money there. Well done LVRC. — Garry Sharp, Regency Downs
