Rosewood crossing safety upgrade

Gatton Star - - NEWS -

THE John Street level crossing at Rosewood will get a $700,000 upgrade and works are scheduled to start early in the new year.

Community feedback and routine reviews by Queensland Rail identified the site as a priority for improvement and it follows problems at the crossing in July.

Member for Ipswich West Jim Madden said last week’s announcement was welcome news for Rosewood locals.

“I would like to thank the Deputy Premier and Minister for Transport, Jackie Trad, for supporting my calls for an upgrade to the Rosewood level crossing,” Mr Madden said.

“The upgrade will begin with improved CCTV that will enhance Queensland Rail’s monitoring capabilities... improving its performance and making it less difficult for motorists and commuters if faults occur. New boom arms, boom mechanisms and a control hut will also be installed to improve reliability and reduce costs.”
