Gar­dens on show

GAR­DEN lovers will have one more op­por­tu­nity to view 22 gar­dens en­tered into the in­au­gu­ral Som­er­set Gar­den Com­pe­ti­tion.

As part of the com­pe­ti­tion, which was or­gan­ised by Som­er­set Re­gional Coun­cil and spon­sored by Sear­les, all en­trants will have their gar­dens open to the public on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 28, and Sun­day, Oc­to­ber 29, be­tween 8am-4pm.

Mayor Graeme Lehmann said there was some­thing for all in­ter­ests and en­cour­aged ev­ery­one to visit the var­i­ous gar­dens.

Thewin­ners are:

■ Best Ru­ral Gar­den: Mary and Le­ofric North, 865 Wiven­hoe-som­er­set Road, Split­yard Creek.

■ Best Ur­ban Gar­den: Doreen O’con­nor, 8 Vic­to­ria Street, Too­goolawah.

■ Best Busi­ness/ Com­mu­nity Group Gar­den: Esk Car­a­van Park (Jackie and Paul Law­son), 26 Hassall Street, Esk.
