Auction to fundraise for schools, charity
THE Toogoolawah Show Society (Youth Development) is hosting its third annual Junior Cattle Camp and Charity Auction at the Toogoolawah Showgrounds between Thursday, September 27 and Sunday, September 30.
The purpose of this Cattle Camp is to encourage rural youth aged 8-25 to take an active interest in agriculture and the beef cattle industry. This is a three day program and will include a range of activities for the participants.
There will be both theory sessions (informative discussions with experienced speakers) and practical sessions (Preparing an animal for Show, Grooming and Parading). The participants will compete in competitions for Stud Cattle and Prime Cattle Judging and Cattle Parading.
As part of the Queensland Shows we will also be speaking to Rural Ambassador candidates and what it is like to be involved in your Show Society at a higher level. This is a very informative and fun filled weekend which will be suitable for everyone from the firsttimer’s right through to the more experienced. A charity auction will be held on September 29 starting at 7pm in the Mears Pavilion, with items for everyone from the kids to the adults.
Proceeds from the Auction are to be contributed to the Youth Development section of the Toogoolawah Show Society.
Each year the Toogoolawah Junior Cattle Camp selects a charity where a percentage of funds raised during the Charity auction going directly to the
chosen Charity. For 2018 the committee has decided 30% of the funds from the Charity Auction will be used to support Thirsty Cow, a drought relief fund and a local school.
Thirsty Cow is a registered Charity that provides continued and sustained relief to Australian farmers, graziers and their families suffering from financial or other distress arising from the effects of natural disasters such as severe drought, flood, bushfires and their resulting hardships including loss of livelihood and unemployment.
There will also be raffles and lucky door prizes available furing the event.
The Charity Auction will start at 7pm and tickets can be purchased by contacting Tania Haynes 0428 256 558 or email@example.com —Toogoolawah Show
