Planting for the future
SOMERSET Regional Council is pleased to again offer Somerset residents free trees for their properties.
The second free tree distribution day will be held at Fernvale from 8-11am on Saturday at Memorial Park.
Residents can claim either two or ten free trees upon presentation of the Free Tree Voucher which was attached to the Somerset Lifestyle Spring newsletter that was posted to residents mailboxes.
A Free Tree Voucher will entitle residents living on suburban/house block to two free trees.
Plants that will be available for residents living on suburban/ house blocks for residential gardens will be flowering and bird attracting species, and will include council’s floral emblem plants – Weeping Bottlebrush and Native Frangipani.
Plants provided for Land for Wildlife participants and properties larger than 20 acres will be native trees appropriate for re-vegetation and habitat plantings, with a particular focus on koala trees.
Residents are encouraged to bring a reusable bag or box along to collect their free trees.
