Phones bigger danger than drink in UK

Geelong Advertiser - Motoring - - CARSGUIDE -

ROAD safety campaigners in the UK are warning that mobile phone distraction will become a bigger killer than drink driving on that country’s roads by next year. The numbers of motorists using mobile phones to make calls, texts or social media updates when driving has risen to epidemic levels and distracted driving is expected to be the biggest single cause of death and injuries on the roads as a result. The Poms are looking at doubling the current penalty for mobile phone use to six points on a motorist’s licence and a one-year ban.
