Sport Benz in all-wheel drive only
ORIGINALLY specified as a front-wheel drive, MercedesBenz has decided to bring in the new CLA250 Sport with 4matic all-wheel drive – only.
Buyers who ordered the front-wheel drive will get the 4matic system at no extra cost.
It runs a 2.0-litre turbo petrol four cylinder with direct fuel injection and variable cam timing to produce 155kW/350Nm output with 165kW on overboost.
This is sufficient to push the CLA250 Sport from 0-100km/h in 6.6 seconds and it can sip fuel at 6.6 litres/100km – wacky, huh?
The vehicle has been engineered by AMG, which injected more than a little bit of sporty feel to the car.
They honed in on suspension, with more negative camber, thicker stabiliser bars, brakes (better cooling), transmission (seven-speed Gtronic) with throttle blip and engine recalibration.
The stability control system is sports calibrated and there’s an AMG dress-up kit.
Spec is generous with red stitched leather, Becker Navi Pilot system, aluminium trim, AMG wheel, Bluetooth audio/phone, 18-inch alloys, intelligent headlights and plenty of other goodies.
It’s a good buy at the $64,900.
