Hatch­ing a Me­gane with punch

RE­NAULT has launched a re­vamped Me­gane hatch and wagon range with the new, prom­i­nent Re­nault grille logo.

The look fea­tures across the en­tire Me­gane range.

The Me­gane range is now avail­able with an en­try-level petrol turbo 1.2-litre four­cylin­der en­gine, code named TCe 130 cou­pled with a sixspeed ef­fi­cient dual-clutch au­to­matic trans­mis­sion. It was pre­vi­ously only avail­able with a man­ual trans­mis­sion and is good for 97kW/205Nm.

The fuel econ­omy rates 5.6 litres/100km.

A 1.5-litre turbo diesel en­gine is now avail­able in the Me­gane spec­i­fied to the higher GT level.

The dCi 110 (hp) en­gine fit­ted in the Me­gane diesel vari­ants has a fuel con­sump­tion fig­ure of 4.5-litres/100km on the com­bined cy­cle. This en­gine pro­duces 81kW/240 Nm and tech­nol­ogy im­prove­ments in­clude the in­tro­duc­tion of Re­nault’s in­no­va­tive R-Link entertainment sys­tem.

Avail­able on var­i­ous spec­i­fi­ca­tions across the range, R-Link in­cludes an 18cm touch­screen dis­play and in­tu­itive voice com­mands and a home page that can be per­son­alised for safe, sim­ple ac­cess to key func­tions with­out the driver hav­ing to take their eyes off the road.

A GT220 hatch ver­sion of the Me­gane GT220 Sport Wagon is also now avail­able with a de­tuned ver­sion of the po­tent 2.0-litre turbo petrol en­gine in the Me­gane RS265. This ver­sion has an out­put of 220hp (or 162 kW) and 340 Nm and Stop & Start tech­nol­ogy en­sures 7.3-litres/100km.
