THE new Civic sedan re­vealed in the United States sig­nals a re­turn to more ex­cit­ing times.

Com­pletely new-from-the-groundup, the re­designed hits show­rooms in US this month with bolder, more ag­gres­sive styling, a sporty fast­back pro­file and pre­mium fea­tures in­clud­ing LED light­ing.

The 2016 Civic Sedan is the first in se­ries of new 10th-gen­er­a­tion Civic vari­ants that will in­clude a sedan, coupe, sports-minded Si mod­els, five­door hatch­back and Type-R model — at least US mar­ket. Honda says it is the most di­verse

in­no­va­tive line-up of­fered in Civic’s 43-year history.

This new Civic has been bench­marked against world’s best C-seg­ment ve­hi­cles — in­clud­ing lux­ury cars as en­gi­neers sought to de­liver a truly world-beat­ing com­pact­class car.

The global de­vel­op­ment ef­fort was led for the first time by Honda’s US R & D team, which set its sights on de­liv­er­ing a car with bench­mark lev­els of qual­ity, fuel ef­fi­ciency, in­te­rior spa­cious­ness and fun-to-drive per­for­mance.

The new Civic sits new plat­form, longer wheel­base that trans­lates to a larger cabin with 30mm more rear legroom.

Com­bined wider track and body it gives the car much more ath­letic stance.

A spa­cious pre­mi­umqual­ity cabin fea­tures pre­mium, soft­touch sur­faces and re­fined de­tail­ing that ex­ceeds main­stream com­pact­car class.

Two all-new pow­er­trains in­clude a new 118kW, 2.0-litre i-VTEC en­gine and a 130kW, 1.5-litre DOHC turbo en­gine with un­prece­dented lev­els of power, re­fine­ment and class-lead­ing fuel econ­omy rat­ings.

Honda Sens­ing in­cludes col­li­sion mit­i­ga­tion brak­ing sys­tem, lane keep­ing as­sist and road de­par­ture warn­ing, adds, for the first time, adap­tive cruise con­trol with low-speed fol­low, set­ting a new bar ad­vanced safety driver-as­sis­tive tech­nol­ogy in the main­stream compact class.

Ad­vanced con­nected-car ca­pa­bil­i­ties en­abled by and more in­tu­itive seven-inch dis­play au­dio touch­screen in­ter­face with An­droid’s op­er­at­ing sys­tem, also fea­tures Ap­ple CarPlay An­droid Auto com­pat­i­bil­ity for seam­less in­te­gra­tion of smart­phone and func­tions.
