The Trial Of Tony Blair

ABC1, 11.40pm, M ( 2007)

Geelong Advertiser - TV Guide - - PROGRAMS -

It’s 2010, Tony Blair has left offi ce, Gordon Brown has the UK’s top job, Bush is in rehab, Hillary Clinton’s in the White House, and Iraq has descended into anarchy. As Blair struggles with his legacy and a guilty conscience, the threat of extradition to The Hague on war crimes charges looms. My

Family star Robert Lindsay is deliciously acerbic if hardly true to life in the lead, playing Blair as a man of tragic delusion, while Peter Mullan does dour to perfection as Brown. Forsaking any pretence at even-handedness, the vitriolic script delivers a leftist wish-fulfilment fantasy which will either delight or repel.
