Set against the tumultuous backdrop of 1960s Singapore, this enjoyable detective noir series’ unmistakable star is Don Hany, who plays Sam Callaghan, an Australian who survived Changi Prison as a child during World War II. Tall, dark, handsome and, oh yes, inquisitive too, he is the perfect noir hero to step in when a detective agency’s only detective suddenly dies, leaving unsolved mysteries in his wake. Tonight, after a bombing at Singapore’s post office, James Lim ( Edmund Chen), a businessman and rising star in conservative politics, asks Sam to find his brother, Lim Chee Kit ( Jason Chong), a trade union leader and political activist who’s gone to ground.
