Writer- director Peter Howitt’s debut, a likeable “what if” romantic comedy, follows two parallel scenarios. In one, Helen ( Gwyneth Paltrow, left) catches a train and is exposed to her boyfriend’s infidelity; in the other, she misses the train and meets London’s most charming single man ( John Hannah). Paltrow is at her best here; her character is impossible to take your eyes off. And she has an equally accomplished actor in Four Weddings and a Funeral star Hannah, whose natural charm never seems contrived, which makes their courtship all the more convincing. This is a modest diversion for the incurable romantic.
