SBS ONE, 8.30pm

Watched by more than seven million viewers when it aired in Germany, three- part mini- series Generation War caused a wave of public debate in its home country and a blanket of criticism from Polish critics and viewers, who believed it tried to excuse German actions during World War II. Even so, the fictitious historical series was still a hit in Poland. Set in Berlin, 1941, five young friends’ lives are changed forever as they navigate the unconscionable moral concessions of life under Hitler. The story is narrated by decorated officer Wilhelm ( Volker Bruch), who is off to the eastern front with his idealistic younger brother Friedhelm ( Tom Schilling).
