Friday ALL THE PRESIDENT’S MEN GEM, Friday, 10.45pm, M ( 1976)

Geelong Advertiser - TV Guide - - MOVIES -

Stunning adaptation of the Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein book on the Watergate scandal. Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman are top- notch as the two young Washington Post reporters who come across the story of a lifetime. Calling on the innovative eye of cinematographer Gordon Willis ( The Godfather), director Alan J. Pakula brings the press world alive with total realism, making the profession of news- getting seem exciting and, above all, vital. A superb cast ( including an Oscar- winning Jason Robards) and lots of subtle humour, courtesy of scriptwriter William Goldman, make this one of the best political thrillers ever made.

On the case: Dustin Hoffman, left, and Robert Redford unravel a conspiracy in All the President’s Men.
