THE MOANING OF LIFE

Geelong Advertiser - TV Guide - - PROGRAMS -

ABC1, 9.30pm

Hitting 40 is far from old age, so Idiot Abroad star Karl Pilkington ( pictured) can be forgiven for not really thinking about that topic most of us prefer to put to the back of our minds: death. In a fitting theme for tonight’s season- ending episode, the big kid at heart faces up to arguably life’s hardest moment. While the Western world generally mourns the passing of life and even prefers to pretend death isn’t inevitable, other cultures take a different perspective and approach. Karl brings his signature light- hearted outlook as he starts off in Ghana, where he shops for a “crazy coffin”, while in Taiwan he receives lessons from a professional mourner. It’s life- affirming stuff.
