Natalie Portman ( pictured) won the best actress Oscar for her role as intense ballerina Nina in this mind- bending psychological thriller from director Darren Aronofsky ( The Wrestler). When artistic director Thomas Leroy ( Vincent Cassel) chooses Nina to replace prima ballerina Beth MacIntyre ( Winona Ryder) in the lead role in the production of Swan Lake, Nina is thrilled to be in the spotlight, but soon finds a rival in new dancer Lily ( Mila Kunis) who is waiting in the wings. The graceful Nina is perfect for the role of the delicate White Swan, but slowly loses her mind as she becomes more and more like the evil twin sister of the White Swan, the Black Swan.
