GO!, Friday, 9.10pm, M ( 1998)
One of the best political satires to eminate from Hollywood. Two ’ 90s kids ( Tobey Maguire and Reese Witherspoon, left) are transported by a magical remote control into the world of their favourite ’ 50s TV sitcom, only to discover that behind the facade of innocence is a dark and intolerant society. Firebrand Witherspoon isn’t too pleased to be there and sets about modernising the place. The plot is lifted out of potential cheesiness by truly stunning visuals that contrast a drab monochrome society with – literally – colourful late- 20thcentury sensibilities.
