Police focus firmly on Ristevski husband

-

KAREN Ristevski’s husband is the prime suspect in her disappearance after her remains were found in remote bushland outside Melbourne, his lawyer says.

Borce Ristevski’s lawyer, Rob Stary, has told Melbourne media his client maintains his innocence.

Ms Ristevski’s remains were found in bushland in Mount Macedon on Monday.

“It’s pretty clear police have him as their number one suspect,” Mr Stary said.

Mr Ristevski was seen visit- ing his lawyer’s office yesterday morning, a day after police confirmed the decomposed remains were those of his wife.

He was staying away from the media spotlight, refusing to answer questions as he entered the lawyer’s building.

There was little activity at the Ristevski’s Avondale Heights home yesterday, except for a man walking out the front gate to place a bag of rubbish in the bin.

A blonde woman delivered groceries to the house in the morning and left shortly after 2pm without speaking to the waiting media.

Two bunches of flowers placed outside the house by mourners were collected and taken inside by an unknown man.

DNA tests were used to identify Ms Ristevski’s body, and the news was passed on to her family by police on Tuesday afternoon.

Police have not revealed if they have any information about possible suspects.

Ms Ristevski’s body was found at Mount Macedon by a passer-by along a dirt track. Police conducted a line search at the scene on Tuesday.
