My Super Ex-Girlfriend ELEVEN, 8.30pm, M (2006)

Geelong Advertiser - - TV GEELONG ADVERTISER TV GUIDE -

Trying to lampoon superheroes the way he did spooks in Ghostbusters, director Ivan Reitman’s wryly ridiculous comedy sees likable New Yorker Matt (Luke Wilson) become smitten with bookish art gallery worker Jenny (Uma Thurman). But when the pair’s initial chemistry turns sour, Matt breaks it off. Big mistake. It turns out that Jenny is a superhero by the name of G-Girl and manifests her heartache by making her regretful ex’s life a living hell. Uma throws herself into playing the sassy, sexy crime fighter and Wilson is his reliably lowkey, humorous self. MySuperEx-Girlfriend offers a welcome dose of humour to the increasingly self-important comic-book-to-film genre.
