Aldi wipes slate clean with ACCC

Geelong Advertiser - - BUSINESS BEAT -

THE consumer watchdog has ended its investigation into Aldi’s bathroom cleaning wipes after the supermarket chain removed labelling suggesting the product was flushable.

In July the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission prompted Aldi to temporarily remove the wipes from sale due to concerns over them being labelled as “flushable” and able to “disintegrate in the sewage system”.

“We’re pleased that Aldi has added a ‘do not flush’ message for consumers, making it clear that the bathroom cleaning wipes it is still selling should be disposed of in a rubbish bin instead of a toilet,” ACCC chairman Rod Sims said.
