Maccas forced to rely on generator

-

A FAST food outlet in Geelong’s southern suburbs is using a power generator as it awaits to be connected to the state grid.

Powercor has confirmed the McDonald’s on Barwon Heads Rd at Warralily Estate is using an independent power source.

“The only use of a generator in the Warralily area that we are aware of is a McDonald’s store,” a Powercor spokeswoman said.

“According to our records, Woolworths are not being supplied by a generator, they were connected to mains supply in late 2017.

“McDonald’s require a kiosk substation on site and the design and construction of the kiosk substation works are being undertaken by the land developers.

“When the design and construction is completed and the project works audited and submitted to Powercor, Powercor will then energise the kiosk substation — at which point, McDonald’s will be able to be connected to the grid.”
