FALLEN POWERLINE TRAPS TRUCK DRIVER
A TRUCK driver had to be freed from his vehicle after being trapped inside for more than an hour after a powerline came down over his truck at Breakwater.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Tanner and Leather streets, about 12.45pm yesterday.
Senior Constable Glenn Stephens said Powercor was called to disconnect the live powerline before the truck driver could be safely freed.
“The B-double truck was trying to do a U-turn in Tanner St when he’s hooked a powerline on his truck,” he said.
“Powercor had to come and disconnect the line with the driver stuck in the truck for close to an hour.
“He was attempting to drop off his trailer when he got into trouble.”
The driver, aged in his 50s, escaped injury.
In a separate incident, motorists dodged debris on Latrobe Terrace after a semitrailer lost its top near Fyans St, Geelong yesterday.
