Car strikes pole at black spot
THREE people are in hospital after a car crash at a notorious Birregurra intersection.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Cape Otway Rd and Birregurra-Deans Marsh Rd after reports a car had struck a power pole at 12.18am yesterday.
Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman Lina Hawi said three people were taken to Geelong hospital in stable conditions.
“We had three patients,” she said. “A woman in her 50s who sustained a head injury.
“A man in his 50s who sustained a chest injury. A woman in her 20s was taken to Geelong for observation. ”
On January 5, an incident at the same intersection was caught on dash cam, which showed a silver Jeep pulling out in front of a white Commodore station wagon at 12.30pm.
The Commodore driver quickly hit the brakes and turned away from the Jeep, avoiding a collision.
There has been a series of road incidents at the nearby intersection of Cape Otway Rd and Winchelsea-Deans Marsh Rd.
VicRoads responded by cutting the speed limit to 60km/h along the 400m approach to the intersection.
