KYLIE’S TOUR TO BE A GOLDY AND A GOODY

- CAMERON ADAMS

KYLIE Minogue will perform at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl for the first time since 1987.

Minogue’s Golden tour will play at the venue on March 13 next year.

In 1987 Minogue sang with sister Dannii and Neighbours co-star Jason Donovan at a Young Talent Time concert at the Bowl.

“I remember I used to go there as a teenager,” Minogue said.

“I remember seeing a concert there that climaxed with Australian Crawl, I’m sure I’m not imagining that. The Sidney Myer Music Bowl is such an iconic venue.

“The amount of times I’ve driven past there or seen Carols by Candlelight there … it’ll be really fun.”

The Golden tour showcases this year’s country-tinged No. 1 album while rebooting Kylie classics including Better the Devil You Know, Locomotion (featured in a Studio 54 segment), Especially For You, Love at First Sight, Slow, Confide in Me, Wow and Wouldn’t Change a Thing.

Her return to the Myer Music Bowl caps off a year of milestones for Minogue. She turned 50 in May, and celebrated the 30th anniversary of her self-titled debut album in July.

“It’s a golden year!” she said. “I feel excited about everything. I’ve become more aware of time. If you want to do it, you better do it. Don’t faff around. Of course I’m not 25 with no cares in the world. Life throws you curve balls, you always have to navigate them.

“I didn’t plan any of this. Maybe some people think they’ll be a megastar. I didn’t. I find it weird when people say, ‘I knew when I was seven that I wanted to be famous’. I don’t quite know how it’s happened, but I keep doing what I’m doing.”

Minogue will be joined on all Australian shows by Jake Shears, formerly the frontman of US band Scissor Sisters.

Shears, her close friend, was a surprise guest at Minogue’s 50th birthday party in London.

“I just love being with Jake, so having him on this tour is brilliant,” she said.

“He’s got so much to give as a person and as a friend, I can’t wait to see him performing old and new songs on this tour.”

Tickets for the Golden tour go on sale on November 19, with presales next Tuesday.
