2199kg cocaine haul seized

AUTHORITIES in Paraguay say they have seized more than two tonnes of cocaine, the biggest seizure of the drug in the South American nation’s history.

National Anti-drug Secretariat spokesman Francisco Ayala said the 2199kg haul was found at a ranch in a town about 400km north of the capital Asuncion.

Agents said they had arrested a man and a woman allegedly caught with more than 2000 packages of cocaine.

They are still investigating the origin of the drug.
