Energy, mining shares fall

AUSTRALIAN shares ended the week on a lower note, dragged down by energy and mining sectors.

The benchmark S&P/ ASX200 index closed down 21 points, or 0.34 per cent, at 6071.5 points, while the All Ordinaries was down 0.37 per cent at 6,136.2.

Santos Ltd lost 4.37 per cent to $6.35 and Oil Search fell 3.5 per cent to $7.72, BHP lost 1.51 per cent, to $35.33, and Rio Tinto was down 1.77 per cent, to $90.57.

NAB was down 18c at $24.75 after announcing the departure of its CEO and chairman.
