ONE LAST SHOT
I WANT TO LEAVE GAME WITH THAT CUP, SAYS ABLETT
DESTINY awaits Geelong’s favourite son Gary Ablett, who will play his final AFL match in Saturday’s grand final.
Ablett did a rare press conference yesterday, the day after his two third-quarter goals helped Geelong break clear of Brisbane in the preliminary final.
He said the possibility of drinking from the premiership cup one more time was the sole reason he returned to Geelong three years ago.
Meanwhile, police are preparing for an unusual grand final night in the city, and Geelong chief executive Brian Cook says his club is stronger than ever in 2020, its culture forged by the hardships of the coronavirus pandemic.
