Olympic FC ended the penultimate round of the Mid West Soccer Association’s senior men’s competition as minor premiers, after their 8-1 lashing of basement-bound Rovers White last Saturday afternoon at Salvatore Sciuto Stadium.

Coupled with Chapman Tigers being held to a 2-2 draw against La Fiamma on Sunday, the six-point margin means Olympic cannot be caught — even with the bye this weekend.

Rovers Black caused the upset of the round, ending their six-game losing streak in style after hammering Chapman Black 5-2.

Matches were lopsided in round 14 of senior women’s competition, with all beaten sides (Geraldton Rovers, Batavia United and Marconi) unable to find the goal.

The final regular season round of the senior men’s competition will be held this weekend, with senior women having a break until the opening round of finals matches on Monday, September 4.
