All is in readiness for the 2017 Geraldton SUP (Stand-Up Paddleboard) Fest weekend, which begins tomorrow morning at Sunset Beach.

Attracting competitors from all over WA, five separate divisions will be hotly contested — open (men and women), over-40s and 50s (men) and juniors (under-18).

Geraldton SUP Fest co-ordinator Conny Duerrenmatt said the event would be a great opportunity for those who may wish to learn more about a different water-based sporting activity.

“For people who have tried surfing and (may have) found it too hard — but would enjoy a waterbased activity, stand-up paddleboarding is a great option,” he said.

The briefing for day one starts at 7.30pm, with heats beginning at 8am.

Finals will be held on Sunday morning from 10.30am.
