Goat blamed for 4WD rollover
A man in his 50s has narrowly escaped serious injury after rolling his four-wheel-drive and the caravan it was towing when he swerved to avoid hitting a goat near Kalbarri.
The accident happened about 12.15pm on Saturday on North West Coastal Highway.
A police spokeswoman said he lost control after swerving onto the gravel verge when a goat ran across the road.
She said the vehicle and trailer were damaged but the driver escaped with minor bruising. He was held in hospital overnight for observation but released on Sunday morning.
Kalbarri police posted a photo of the incident to Twitter, along with this reminder for motorists: “If you see wildlife on the road, please don’t swerve! This motorist escaped with minor injuries only”.
