Former Falcons netball player Emma Cosh has signed as a 2018 training partner for the West Coast Fever.

The versatile goal attack, who works as a physical education teacher in Perth, said she was thrilled to learn of her new netball chapter.

“I got a call from Suzanne Lennon (Fever operations manager),” Cosh said. “And because I work at a specialist netball school, I thought it was something regarding that.

“But when she said there was a meeting with Fever head coach Stacey Marinkovich that I had to get to, I was pretty excited. “It’s an amazing opportunity.” Each club within the Suncorp Super Netball League is allowed 10 contracted senior squad players, with an additional four “training partner” contracts available.

As one of the four players selected, Cosh will take part in senior oncourt fitness and skills sessions, along with strength and conditioning in the gym.

Despite grabbing every opportunity that has come her way in Perth, Cosh has never forgotten where she comes from.

“I absolutely loved my club netball in Geraldton, the whole way through from juniors right up until seniors,” she said.

“I think that’s the thing I missed moving to Perth, because I was so set within that club and absolutely loved it.

“I had some great coaches through that and I think that has really helped me become the player I have when I moved down.”

Cosh also believes her time with the Redink Homes Midwest Tigers in the West Australian Netball League has given her plenty of advantages.

“I definitely think coming from the country and playing in that league, it is a lot harder for country kids having to travel down first,” she said.

“At times we were playing two games a weekend — they were double-headers and each game was against a different team. I think that the ones that do it and when I did it, it definitely makes you stronger mentally and I think that is a big one coming down.”

During the week, Cosh enjoys all that comes within her role as a PE teacher and relishes the opportunity to pass on her experiences to young netballers coming through the grades.

Former Falcons netballer Emma Cosh has been signed as one of four West Coast Fever training partners for the 2018 season.
