Airport re-site up for vote

Geraldton Guardian - - News -

A new facility for the Geraldton-Greenough SES could be constructed in the Geraldton Airport Precinct, if Greater Geraldton councillors endorse the motion at next week’s meeting.

The proposal would see the SES relocate from its current facility on the corner of Edward and Davies roads in Utakarra to the northern boundary of the airport. The project would be fully funded through the State Government’s 2017-18 Local Government Grant Scheme Capital Grants.

Briefing notes in the agenda noted once the facility is constructed, the Emergency Services Levy would fund the operation and maintenance.

If approved, the grant would inject about $1.66 million into the local economy over two years.
