Twelve properties in Geraldton could be exempt from rates if councillors support a motion at next week’s council meeting.
Community Housing has applied for its properties in Beachlands, Tarcoola Beach, Mahomets Flats and Geraldton to be deemed as “non-rateable land” used for charitable purposes.
The properties are currently used by people with disabilities.
The not-for-profit organisation is a registered charity, providing affordable housing for people on low to middle incomes
In November Council granted a rates exemption on 11 of the organisation’s properties.
The value of the exemption based on the 2017-18 rates is estimated at $17,936.46 a year.
