Drugs blamed for man’s offending
A 26-year-old man has pleaded guilty to possessing a prohibited weapon after police found knuckledusters in his pocket.
Stuart Michael Artur Dodd appeared on Thursday in Geraldton Magistrate’s Court, where he also pleaded guilty to possession of stolen property, possession of cannabis and gaining benefit by fraud. Dodd admitted to having the knuckledusters after police searched his car during a traffic stop on July 3 last year.
In an unrelated incident on September 1, police also discovered cannabis, a bank card and a seniors card not belonging to Dodd inside his bag.
Defence counsel Kate TurtleyChappel said Dodd had started to offend after using drugs.
He was fined $1000 and ordered to pay court costs. He will also appear in the same court on charges of aggravated home burglary and stealing later this year.
