Work starts on Mi­dalia fore­shore

Mi­dalia beach and carpark will be closed for en­hance­ment works from Mon­day.

The works are part of the City of Greater Ger­ald­ton’s $23.1 mil­lion Beres­ford Fore­shore Coastal Pro­tec­tion and En­hance­ment Project, which be­gan in Jan­uary last year.

Works along the 1.8km stretch of fore­shore will in­clude land­scap­ing as well as, build­ing pub­lic fa­cil­i­ties and , a play­ground, and re­plac­ing other ameni­ties lost to coastal ero­sion.

A fence around the area was erected on Wed­nes­day.

The beach can be ac­cessed through gates un­til Mon­day.

The es­ti­mated date of com­ple­tion of the works is the end of June.

The City has re­quested that peo­ple ex­er­cise cau­tion, and obey all warn­ing signs and di­rec­tions in the area.

Com­mu­nity mem­bers will be able to ac­cess Mi­dalia beach through tem­po­rary gates un­til Mon­day.
