Beach outing for a clean-up — and love?

Geraldton Guardian - - News -

For some people, Valentine’s Day is the most romantic time of year. For others, it’s just another day.

But this year the Batavia Coastcare Network are looking for single beach-lovers to give nature a helping hand while meeting other likeminded people.

On February 14 people under 35 years of age are invited to Pages Beach for the inaugural Love Your Beach event.

Participants will take part in a sunset beach clean-up before heading over to Geraldton’s West End for dinner and activities with the Comedy Emporium.

BCN secretary and Northern Agricultural Catchment Council’s Coastal and Marine Project Officer Vanessa McGuiness said the event was an opportunity to do something different on Valentine’s Day.

“This is a chance to come together and share interests,” she said.

“We thought this would be a great way for people from all walks of life to come out for some fun and entertainment, while giving back to our beaches.

“There is no pressure. Just come on down and say hi while doing your bit for the environment.”

The free event is supported by the Northern Agricultural Catchment Council, Intrepid Landcare and the WA Landcare Network.

Love Your Beach kicks off at 6pm.
