The mega yacht L’Aus­tral docked at Ger­ald­ton last week and stayed for about nine hours. The Ger­ald­ton Guardian has re­ported that some cruise ship vis­its can con­trib­ute more than $100,000 to the lo­cal econ­omy in pas­sen­ger spend­ing alone. So, we asked visi­tors: What do you like about Ger­ald­ton, and what did you spend your money on while you were here?

Richard Vito is from France and is the chief en­gi­neer on L'Aus­tral. He said he liked the fore­shore, and thought it had a nice view of the sea. He spent his money on food from Wool­worths and a meal at Salt Dish.

An­drea Voll­brecht and Donna Heaney are friends from Mel­bourne. The pair agreed Ger­ald­ton’s vol­un­teers were knowl­edge­able and pas­sion­ate. They both spent their money on lunch at Wonda Bake.

Elena Nirk is from Rus­sia and she was very im­pressed by the HMAS Syd­ney II Me­mo­rial. She said it was very ex­pres­sive. She spent her money on McDon­ald’s and said she was very im­pressed with the Big Mac.

Ludo Janek is from France and took plenty of pho­tos of street art in Marine Ter­race. He said Ger­ald­ton seemed to be a very arty place. Ludo spent his money on post­cards and food.

Rofiq Anu is from In­done­sia and he said he liked the beach and thought the lo­cals were nice and friendly. Rofiq spent his money on food from McDon­ald’s.

John Wil­liam is from France and he liked Ger­ald­ton’s trees. He spent his money on Aus­tralian wine and food at Wonda Bake.
