Drought appeal was a big success

Geraldton Guardian - - OPINION -

I would like to send out a huge thanks to all of our customers and everyone who donated to our recent Australian Farmers Drought Appeal.

Throughout August and September all our sites accepted donations from the community and we are very proud to announce that you, the community, raised

$25,306.40, which we matched dollar for dollar and will now be donating a grand total of

$50,612.80 towards this great cause.

It has also been fantastic to see other businesses, schools and clubs complete their own fundraising and drop it into our collections.

While we have had plenty of rain over here in WA, the farmers and their families interstate have definitely not been as fortunate, facing severe, ongoing drought, still struggling with crops, with many unable to feed their livestock. I hope that our combined donations will be put to use providing some relief to those who desperately need it. This has been a great example of a community pulling together to help out fellow Australians and if you still wish to contribute towards the appeal, there are numerous charities and organisations still collecting donations.

Thanks again to everyone who contributed towards this initiative and I’m sure the families who will benefit are also grateful for your support. Kyme Rigter
