RSL meeting

Geraldton Guardian - - NEWS -

Not very often in its 100-year history, has the Returned and Services League of WA held a board meeting outside of Perth — but Geraldton had the honour of hosting it this week.

RSLWA president Peter Aspinall and chief executive John McCourt were among those who attended the meeting, held at the City of Greater Geraldton administration centre on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, RSLWA staff held a forum for Mid West RSL members at Birdwood House.

Afterwards, Mayor Shane Van Styn and Mr Aspinall laid a wreath at the HMAS Sydney II Memorial.

Geraldton City RSL Sub-Branch vice-president Ken Morris said about half of RSL club members in WA lived in regional areas.

“It was decided at a board meeting about eight months ago that we should reach out more to the regional areas and hold board meetings in regional towns at least twice a year,” he said.

RSLWA held a board meeting in Kalgoorlie earlier this year.
