FEELING JUDGED

Girlfriend - - GF ADVICE -

I just recently found out a girl in my class I thought was really cool, doesn’t like me because I’m gay! According to a mutual bestie, she’s really uncomfortable around me and worried about me having a crush on her! I don't want to confront her about it, but it really bothers me. Everybody at my school has been so accepting and has never had a problem with me being a lesbian, so I have no idea how I’m supposed to deal with this kind of homophobia.

Disappointed

You need to confront her, but in a nice way. You have second-hand information so you need to discover whether she is homophobic or there is some misunderstanding. It’s great to hear the majority of your school friends have been supportive. It is not cool to judge anyone on who they love. Acting positively will make it harder for her to feel negatively about you. Hey, you might even change her mind on the subject!
