Charged with creating a maximum performance iron that he would play himself, with no limits placed on costs or engineering, Callaway Head of R&D, Dr Alan Hocknell, produced the new Epic and Epic Pro irons.

Precision-milled and robotically welded, Callaway’s latest iron models feature a high-grade, lightweight and strong cast-steel Exo-Cage construction at their centre. The Exo-Cage stiffens the body of the club, allowing the face to take more of the load at impact, which in turn produces faster ball speeds for increased distance and performance.

With an ultra-thin rim around the perimeter and at just 1mm thick at its thinnest point, the 360 Face Cup flexes and rebounds quickly at impact, adding speed to both centre strikes and miss-hits.

Using tungsten powder, which is baked into Internal Standing Wave shapes designed specifically for each iron in the set, Callaway’s new Metal Injection Moulded process is an industry-first. The Standing Wave Shapes allow the centre of gravity to be optimally positioned from club-to-club, delivering high launching, easy to hit long irons and short irons with improved control.

The Epic Pro irons use the same technologies as the standard Epic in a shape designed to appeal to better players. Featuring a smaller head shape, with a thinner top line and less offset, the Epic Pro irons are designed for enhanced workability without sacrificing performance. RRP: $359.99 (per iron); Available June 23. Contact: For more information and stockists call Callaway on 1800 217 777 or visit, www.callawaygolf.com.au
