How he does it

If there is one area of Marc Leishman’s game he likes to stay on top of it is his short game. At The Open Championship, where he finished sixth, and after his second victory of the year at the BMW Championship, he talked about working hard to keep his short game sharp.

For a big guy, Leishman has soft hands that serve him well around the greens, which is why he was able to get up-anddown 72.13 percent of the time (between 10 and 20 yards off the green) during the 2017 season.

If you want to save shots around the greens, you too should grip the club softly with a constant grip pressure. The biggest mistake a lot of amateurs make when chipping is they grip the club too tightly. Lightening the grip will relieve any tension in your arms and make it easier to employ a basic chipping action.
