Your birthstone can have a powerful and positive effect on your life. By Linda Music.

For jewellery that is more than just ornamental, try wearing your birthstone. And to find something that resonates powerfully and actually helps you in your life’s purpose, look for the gems of your astrological sign.

Interestingly though, the birthstone list you find at the jewellery shop may not show the right stone for you. This is because the jeweller’s list is usually based on the month you were born rather than your true astrological sign.

The astrological signs are based on the earth and sun relationship and match up with the equinox, the solstices and the seasons rather than the months, explains Ed Tamplin, astrologer and teacher at Sirius School of Astrology. “So if you want your true birthstone, you should stick to the zodiac sign you were born into,” he says.
