These lit­tle treats are super-good for your hair and tick all the pa­leo and ve­gan boxes. If you’d like to tai­lor them to make them fruc­tose-friendly then just re­place the maple syrup with rice malt syrup. This recipe would also make an awe­some body scrub – give it a try and your skin will be thank­ing you too!

½ cup (125ml) co­conut oil, melted, plus ex­tra if nec­es­sary ½ cup (55g) al­mond meal 3 tbsp maple syrup, plus ex­tra if nec­es­sary 1 cup (90g) des­ic­cated co­conut ½ tsp ground nut­meg 1 vanilla pod, split and seeds scraped (or ¼ tsp vanilla pow­der or ex­tract) Pinch of salt flakes

1 Com­bine all the in­gre­di­ents in a large bowl and mix to­gether thor­oughly, adding a lit­tle more co­conut oil and an­other ta­ble­spoon of maple syrup if the mix­ture is too crumbly. Shape the mix­ture into lit­tle balls (it’s eas­ier with damp hands), ar­range them on a tray and whack them in the freezer for about 20 min­utes to set. Store in an air­tight con­tainer in the fridge for up to two weeks and share them with your mates.
