Back to basics

Good Health (Australia) - - Contents -

I really liked your recent article on Dr Libby Weaver and her belief that we live with nutritional confusion. Society is obsessed with food, and it’s pushed at us through food courts, media, plentiful cafés, food tastings and through greater availability. Foods are labelled either good or bad, and yes, since the food industry became involved, food is now a complex issue. It never used to be. Food was simple, homemade from basic ingredients and just part of our routine. Sure, we had and looked forward to celebrations, festivals and parties as we knew there’d be different goodies, but we never stressed over what we ate and having to cut back the next week to balance our diet. Food wasn’t analysed. Let’s get back to basics as much as we can and I’ll certainly be getting Dr Libby’s book. Thanks for the balanced and well written article. – Barb
