For those who are over­weight, it’s your fit­ness level, not the num­ber on the scales, that may de­ter­mine how healthy you are. A study by Toronto’s York Univer­sity looked at 853 peo­ple at­tend­ing a weight man­age­ment clinic, and found that among those who were severely obese, the least fit 20 per cent were likely to have higher lev­els of glu­cose and triglyc­erides as well as higher blood pres­sure than those with higher lev­els of fit­ness.
